About Me – Joan Marie Skywark

With over 30 years of experience in emergency medical services (EMS), education, and community service, I’m passionate about helping people gain the skills and confidence to respond effectively in emergencies. My career has been built on a foundation of hands-on experience, lifelong learning, and a commitment to sharing my knowledge with others.

My Mission

My mission is to provide high-quality, accessible training in EMS, CPR, and AED to individuals, groups, and organizations. I believe that anyone can be a lifesaver with the right training, and I’m dedicated to creating a supportive learning environment where people can gain the skills they need to make a difference in critical moments.

My Background

  • Education & Certifications:
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Dominican College and am a licensed New York State EMT and Certified Lab Instructor. As an AHA & HSI CPR Instructor, I’ve trained people from many professions.
  • Professional Experience:
Over the years, I’ve held various roles that combine my expertise in EMS and education. From coordinating training programs for hundreds of members to working hands-on as an EMT and managing healthcare operations, I’ve gained a deep understanding of the skills and knowledge needed to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Corporate and Community Training:
I’ve had the privilege of providing training to a wide range of organizations, including corporate entities like the United States Postal Service (USPS) and Bonland Industries, as well as community-focused groups such as the Town of Orangetown Recreation Department, Day Care Centers, Girl Scouts, and Boy Scouts, College Students, Nurses & EMT’s. These sessions are tailored to meet the unique needs of each organization, from enhancing workplace safety to empowering youth and community leaders with life-saving skills.
  • Volunteer Contributions:
Community service has always been a priority for me. I’ve served in leadership roles with organizations like the South Orangetown Ambulance Corps and Nyack Ambulance Corps, where I’ve mentored trainees, organized training programs, and educated the public. I’ve also worked with initiatives to support individuals in need and volunteered with youth and community organizations, such as South Orangetown Little League and the Rockland Gaelic Football Association, to promote safety and preparedness.

Why Choose My Training Services?

I offer training that is practical, engaging, and tailored to meet the needs of anyone looking to gain or enhance emergency response skills. Whether you’re an individual wanting to learn CPR, a parent seeking to be prepared for emergencies, or part of an organization aiming to improve safety and preparedness, I’m here to help.

My programs are designed to be approachable for all skill levels and focus on empowering you to take action when it matters most.

Let’s work together to create a safer, more prepared community—one class at a time.
